Schau ins Land
Schau ins Land is an audio magazine for intermediate to advanced German learners. It is a subscription program that includes the magazine, an hour-long CD or cassette, plus an optional study supplement. It is designed to improve your vocabulary, grammar and listening comprehension, as well as your cultural understanding of the German-speaking world. Each magazine includes about ten articles on topics ranging from business and economics to tourism and geography to art and music.
I highly recommend this program, especially if you do not have access to materials that provide spoken German. Each magazine contains the full text/transcript on the even-numbered page, and the vocabulary on the odd-numbered page. There are several notes in English at the end that explain the people and places mentioned. The optional study supplements include audio flashcards (repetition of phrases from the text), as well as exercises (multiple choice, fill in the blank, etc.) to improve your vocabulary and grammar.
